Beach Towel: The Discovery
How It Started
Finding my travel beach towel began with the same family trip that I started searching for shampoo and conditioner bars. This time, the search began before the trip. We had actually gone on this same trip (same rental beach-ish house, weeklong, mostly the same crew) for a few years in a row, so I had time to learn. 😄
This year, I was flying commercially with only a carry-on. You know what that means—Not much extra space!
The house provided plenty of bath towels, but not so much on the beach towels. This meant I had to find a way to get my own beach towel there while not taking up too much precious clothes space.
The Problem
When it came to finding the right beach towel for my trip, I had a few key criteria that made this search more challenging than just picking any old towel off the shelf.
First and foremost, I needed a towel that wouldn’t take up all the precious space in my carry-on. Packing light meant I had to be strategic with every item I brought. I wanted a towel that was compact and easy to fit into my carry-on without making it bulge at the seams. 🧳
Second, the towel had to be large enough to lay on in the sand while keeping the sand off of me. I wanted a towel that would provide a comfortable spot to relax and keep my limbs and head out of the sand, making it easier to enjoy the beach without getting covered in grit. 🏖️
Finally, I needed a towel that would actually get me dry. Many microfiber towels are so thin they barely do the job, leaving you wet and the towel soaked. I wanted a towel that would dry me off effectively without being bulky or heavy. 💧
The Search
Knowing what I wanted in a beach towel, I set out to find the perfect one. I Googled, checked out several “Top Beach Towels of YYYY” lists, and scoured Amazon to compare as many towels as I could checking out pictures and reviews.
I was determined to find a towel that met my standards, or I wasn’t going to mess with it.

I even use it for regular swims at my mom’s or cousin’s pool. It’s become my go-to beach towel for all occasions, and I’m already planning to get a few more for our liveaboard sailboat! ⛵
Travel Problem Solved
